Thank you for visiting our website!   Barbara Norton

I am a retired elementary school teacher.  My husband and I also spent many happy hours volunteering while our daughter was attending school.  We are well-aware of the financial challenges and the demands on their time that teachers face when trying to offer educational experiences to their students.  As parents, we are also aware of the challenges that parents face providing a positive learning environment at home.

The idea of a portable Seashell and Ocean Museum that could visit schools came to us when my mother (also a retired school teacher.  Now 102 years young!)  mentioned that she wanted to do something with the room full of shells and ocean life she had collected over the years.  She was hoping we could figure out a way to share them with children.  For two years we built display cases, designed activity tables, and found suppliers for the materials we needed.  Finally, we were ready to visit schools.   The joy and enthusiasm we see in the students and teachers has exceeded our expectations!

In 2015/2016 we introduced the Rock and Fossil Museum.  It fits very well with 2nd, 4th, and 6th grade science curriculum.  It is set up with a "geology camp" meeting area, hands-on activities, display cases, and the rock cycle wall. Again, we have been so gratified with the enthusiastic response from teachers and students alike.  Please check the museum pages for pictures and more details.

Our gift shop has some of the kits my mother designed and used for many years in the classroom.   We have updated the kits and added shell collections, books, shell crafts, display items, gifts, and more!   We are adding a rock and mineral collection for the classroom and rock bookends soon.  Please check the gift shop page for photos, information, and recent updates.

Please let us know if there is something you are looking for and don't see on our site.  We are happy to accommodate individual requests whenever possible!

Visit often to see what's new!

Thank you,

Barbara Norton
