We offer visits from our traveling Seashell and Ocean Museum.  WE COME TO YOU!  It is available for schools, organizations, and groups.  We are located in Fremont, CA.  If you are out of the area, please call.  We might be able to arrange a "road trip"  if you are interested in a museum visit.

Barbara Norton (a retired teacher) gives a short presentation at the beach zone about mollusks and other ocean life. The children are introduced to what the museum contains and then are free to explore. At the end of the session they are called back to the beach zone to watch a video of dolphins surfing.

Teachers and students are free to explore all displays and activity tables during their visit.  The museum can be set up in a multi-purpose room or empty classroom.

The Seashell and Ocean Museum includes:

8 Shell Display Cases, showing over 300 different shells and sealife.  Story boards give more information about the animals that build these shells.

21 foot "Ocean Wall", a collage of ocean life photos including: Shore, Kelp Forest, Coral Reef and Open Ocean. A "Find It" sheet is available for students (2nd grade and higher) and adults to do a scavenger hunt for different animals on the collage and shells in the display cases.

6 Activity Tables:           Make a cut shell necklace,    try the wave and sand  bottles,   explore the shell table and the echinoderm dome,  play at the game and puzzle table, create at the two art tables and get your hands wet in the scallop pool!

Beach Zone:  offers a meeting place to begin and end the visit and a lounge area during the visit.  There are beach towels on the floor and an ocean life video playing as well as books to enjoy (we can set up chairs for adults).  The sound of ocean waves helps to create a relaxed atmosphere.

PRICES:   For Schools:    Seashell and Ocean Museum:  $150.00 per class

Groups and organizations please call or email for prices.

Each class is given 1 hour in the museum.  This allows an uncrowded and relaxed atmosphere for the children.  We can usually schedule up to 4 classes per day without changing recess or lunch schedules.  We can leave the museum set up for additional days if needed.

Groups and Organizations can schedule hours for visitors to come and go.

We require about 30' x 30' of space to set up.  We need two double electric outlets.   We have our own tables.  However, if the room we are using has tables or desks we will use your furniture as much as possible to minimize furniture moving.  We will need time to set up the museum the day before classes visit. After lunch or after school is great.

Please call or email to reserve a date or if you have any questions.  We look forward to hearing from you!
